As the Environmental Manager - Compliance and Improvements, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and the Environmental Protection Act 1986. Your role will involve translating intricate compliance expectations into actionable tasks and reinforcing our dedication to sustainable environmental practices.

Your key responsibilities and purpose will be:
- Providing governance and leadership to ensure compliance with State and Commonwealth environmental laws, regulations, permits, licenses, and Alcoa standards.- Identifying and monitoring changes to environmental laws and regulations, raising concerns and potential challenges to internal stakeholders.- Assessing environmental compliance for existing operations, joint ventures, acquisitions, and new projects.- Supporting the implementation of new approvals for operational activities.- Guiding the locations in establishing, reviewing and auditing environmental compliance management programs and integrating compliance expectations into day-to-day operations.- Representing the regional environmental function in the businesses’ long-term planning strategy.- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to integrate environmental compliance strategies into operations.- Facilitate sharing of compliance solutions and best practices among regional and global Alcoa operations.- Supporting technical studies and environmental impact assessments as required by relevant legislation.- Leading compliance negotiations and manage resolution strategies.

What you can bring to the role- Degree qualification in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or Engineering is essential.- Extensive experience in the environmental field, with a track record of managing major environmental approvals in the industry, specifically under the EPBC Act 1999.- Background of working within the resources sector within a leadership capacity.- Advanced knowledge of State and Federal environmental requirements across the mining industry.- Ability to analyse information to solve complex environmental challenges.- Experience working with regulators, consultants, and third-party organizations.- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
