**How will I help?**
The Financial Crime Surveillance (FCS) team is part of Westpac’s Risk Division and is responsible for detecting, deterring and fighting financial crime. This role is part of the first line of defence for financial crime related risks such as anti-money laundering, sanctions, KYC and customer due diligence.
In this role, you’ll be overseeing team performance and implementing strategies to enhance team capabilities. As the Executive Manager, you will define team strategies and investment priorities, ensuring that team managers adhere to Westpac Group protocols, policies, and procedures in all tasks. You'll also identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
A key part of your role is fostering a collaborative team environment while managing business processes, people, risks, and dependencies effectively. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to address and mitigate financial crime risks.
Your day to day will look like:
- **People Leadership**: Drive team performance through clear objectives, coaching, development, recruitment, and recognition of customer-focused behaviours.
- **Operations Management**:Ensure effective resource management, accurate forecasting, skill development, and KPI analysis. Oversee integrated teams, resolve customer issues, execute remediation plans for performance gaps, and drive customer-centric practices to achieve operational excellence.
- **Stakeholder Management**:Build and manage key internal and offshore relationships to enhance customer experience, ensure partner accountability, and drive process improvements. Lead a customer-focused culture, oversee incident management, and contribute to service level agreement development for partners.
- **Projects and Continuous Improvement**:Lead process improvements, offer expertise on initiatives, ensure accurate documentation, and support Team Managers in delivering operational and commercial value

**What do I need?**
- Legal qualification (Australian preferred, international considered) with specialisation in administrative or public law, and/or data privacy.
- Strong knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) laws, specifically in handling statutory notices.
- Ability to leverage business metrics for managing operations and improving efficiency.
- Proven experience in managing internal stakeholder relationships and driving successful outcomes.
- Experience in leading and managing team-based change initiatives.
