**SEC Newgate Graduate Program: Market and Social Research**

**The opportunity**

This is a 12-month program that will be carefully structured around you. We will combine on-the-job training on client engagements with dedicated mentoring and investment in your professional development. You’ll come out of this program with a firm grasp of the foundations of research and insights to help unleash your potential.

**A taste of what you will be doing**

You will immediately become a core part of the SEC Newgate Research team, working on high-profile and complex issues for government, not-for-profit and corporate clients. You will get exposure to a variety of work to develop your capabilities - there will be something new and exciting to learn and contribute to each day

**A snapshot of what you’ll experience in your first 12 months**:

- Project management on qualitative projects including planning, recruitment and coordination for focus groups, in-depth interviews and large deliberative workshops, as well as preparation of collateral
- Participation in qualitative fieldwork including programming and administration of online communities and support with live focus groups and interviews
- Project management of quantitative projects including liaison with external suppliers, panel providers and fieldhouses
- Review of online surveys, code frames and reporting
- Learn to generate tables, charts, crosstabs, significance testing and other basic analyses using Q independently
- Contribution towards analysis, reporting and presentation development with support from the project team
- Assist with drafting of client case studies
- Contribute to new business activities via brainstorms, idea generation and proposal development
- Develop a thorough understanding of ISO and data privacy regulations and work to ensure our company obligations are always met
- Exposure to project budgeting and how work is costed

**The program**

The program is carefully structured with a focus on your development over 12 months.

**_ First month_**
- You will be allocated a Buddy and a Mentor on your first day, in addition to your day-to-day line manager. These colleagues will be your core Support Group, providing guidance, support and advice throughout the year
- You will be provided with a focused group and personal training schedule as part of your professional development. This will cover an introduction to key systems, processes and skills you will need throughout your career
- Introduction meetings to help you get to know the company, the leadership team, your program Support Group and your wider team
- You will hit the ground running and get allocated to real project work from the outset

**_ Months 2-3_**
- Once you have started to identify the areas you'd like to explore further, your Support Group will help you to design your training plan and identify opportunities for gaining experience in your areas of interest
- Network and continue to build relationships across the business
- Be a core member of a new project team with the opportunity to learn about the critical initial stages of the project lifecycle
- Understand how your work fits into our wider efforts to deliver to clients

**_ Months_**_ _**_3-6_**
- Continue to undertake regular learning and development opportunities - and put your learnings into practice
- Stretch your wings beyond Research and work on projects led by our Communications or Engage teams - this will give you a more holistic understanding of the business and how research fits in
- Ongoing support and feedback from your program Support Group

**_ Months 6-12_**
- Continue to work across a variety of different projects, clients and experiences
- Embed your knowledge by beginning to lead key project activities, while always having the tailored support and supervision you need to succeed
- Graduate from the program with a promotion to Research Executive, and begin to map out your ongoing SEC Newgate career with our clear consulting role pathways
