The Passenger Transport Planning (PTP) unit provides strategic direction for passenger transport planning projects within the department of Transport and Main Roads' (TMR). In the role of Planning Manager you will have the opportunity to:

- Influence and guide the growth and development of passenger transport networks and services across South East Queensland and regional cities.
- Create better communities by planning for viable travel options and enhanced local mobility.
- Provide technical guidance for a broad range of complex/sensitive/large transport planning initiatives.
- Collaborate with diverse stakeholders across TMR, state agencies and local councils.
- Develop integrated multi-modal solutions that deliver value for money outcomes.
- Lead program development and implementation
- Provide mentoring and development for an enthusiastic experienced, supportive team
- Be involved in a broad range of planning.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Lead the development and on-going program management for complex strategic passenger transport planning studies and strategies across the state.
- Responsible for team leadership and/or multiple projects or areas of work.
- Lead and manage the technical development of staff.
- Contribute to the positive working environment of the division, including participating in ongoing business improvement processes
- Manage issues and public information about passenger transport planning projects, including the provision of high-level strategic advice, reports and general correspondence to the Director, Executive Director, General Manager, Deputy Director-General, Director-General and the Minister.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to colleagues in passenger transport study methodologies and techniques and actively contribute to the management of the branch.
- Lead and direct specific tasks or projects (involving the division and other departmental staff) to effectively coordinate and deliver various project activities on time and within budget.
- Devise transport strategies that identify strategic needs and priorities for the development of passenger transport networks including options analysis and recommendations for specific issues.
- Foster effective working relationships with key stakeholders (consult and negotiate with internal and external agencies), and represent the department at meetings, forums and relevant working groups on strategic transport planning issues.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.

This position reports to the Director (Passenger Transport Planning) and has 5 direct reports.

TMR is currently considering the implementation of a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy whereby it would be a condition of employment for TMR employees to be and remain fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
