Lindsay Transport is now entering its seventh decade in operation and is one of the largest transporters of fresh produce in Australia. Lindsay Transport specialises in temperature sensitive, time-slotted freight into Central Markets and major Grocery Distribution Centres. We operate a network of freight terminals with significant cold-room facilities across the east coast of Australia and employ a staff of approximately 1800 workers.
**The Role**:
Lindsay Transport is currently seeking a Workshop Manager for our Melbourne depot in Derrimut.
This opportunity will see you manage a team of 6 and be responsible for the efficient running of the workshop.
**Your main responsibilities will include but not limited to**:
- Leadership and Team Development -_
- Provide leadership and direction to the workshop team.
- Motivate employees & set appropriate individual & team performance goals.
- Train & guide Apprentices
- Foster a positive & safe work environment.
- Operational - _
- Oversee, planning & allocation of the work for workshop and maintenance staff.
- Managing the repair, replacement and/or maintenance and testing of a high volume of company vehicles and related mechanical and electrical components.
- Assisting with breakdowns and call outs
- Raising, processing repair & purchase orders; checking stock & receivables
- Ensure all paperwork & compliance work is completed correctly & in a timely manner.
- This role will see you working 50/50 hands on technical floor-based work / office-based work. _
**About You**:
To be successful for this role applicant must have:
- Relevant Mechanical Trade qualification or many years’ experiences in similar area
- Prior experience in a similar role and industry highly regarded.
- A highly motivated, enthusiastic and positive leadership style.
- Professional presentation with a friendly and helpful manner with an ability to deal effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to manage your own time, meet deadlines and take responsibility for your output and the quality of your work.
- A mature attitude with a logical and methodical approach to your work
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Experience working on prime movers or heavy vehicle trailers is highly valued especially with Kenworth, DAF, Cummins, BPW_
