Position Title: Store Person

Location: Laverton North, VIC

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (with reasonable flexibility)

Position Summary

The Stores Person is responsible for ensuring the efficient management of stock, materials, and consumables to support daily workshop operations. This role underpins workshop efficiency by maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring timely availability of parts and kits for vehicle builds, and providing a safe, organised, and compliant work environment.

The position plays a key role in enabling management to maintain clear oversight of stock levels, consumption, and ordering requirements, ensuring that production flow is supported without delays.


Key Responsibilities

Stock Control

  • Manage inventory accuracy through receipting, labelling, and organised storage of goods.
  • Raise purchase requests and, where required, complete purchasing activities through to goods receipting in MYOB.
  • Maintain stock records and perform regular stocktakes to ensure accuracy.
  • Identify stock variances and recommend process improvements.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Manager regarding re-order levels, supplier issues, and lead times.

Kit Building and Workshop Support

  • Prepare and palletise kits for vehicle builds in line with job requirements.
  • Supply parts, materials, and consumables to workshop teams as needed.
  • Coordinate parts flow between work bays to minimise downtime and support production efficiency.
  • Communicate proactively with the Workshop Controller on upcoming requirements and shortages.

Site WHS Coordination

  • Support the Workshop Controller with implementation of site WHS processes and compliance activities.
  • Conduct regular checks on workshop safety equipment and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist in maintaining registers (e.g., forklift checks, fire extinguishers, first aid).

Delivery and Collection Driving

  • Transport customer vehicles between sites and/or to client locations as required.
  • Collect parts and materials from local suppliers in company vehicles as directed.
  • Ensure safe driving practices and compliance with road laws at all times.

General Housekeeping

  • Maintain the workshop and storage areas in a clean, organised condition.
  • Operate the floor sweeper and coordinate waste management (bins, recycling, etc.).
  • Support a positive, safety-focused, and collaborative workplace culture.

Key Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience in stock control, warehousing, or stores management within a manufacturing or workshop environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems and stock management software (MYOB EXO experience desirable).
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Forklift Licence.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proven reliability and ability to work autonomously.

Desirable

  • Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
  • Understanding of automotive parts or fit-out processes.
  • Knowledge of WHS practices and safe manual handling procedures.
