**We seek a suitably qualified individual to undertake the efficient enforcement of Council local laws and Statutory Government Acts through a public education program based on voluntary compliance. **As our Parking Officer, you will be responsible for...
- Carrying out parking compliance on public streets and City owned parking stations in the local government area for the purpose of enforcing the City’s Parking Local Law.
- Advising, educating and providing guidance to members of the community in relation to parking including promoting voluntary compliance of law enforcement.
- Issuing cautions and infringement notices in relation to the City’s Parking Local Law.
- Obtaining and documenting required evidence when issuing cautions or infringements including notes and photographs as required.
- Identifying and reporting damaged parking restriction signs.
- Identifying and reporting other matters which may impact public safety including noncompliance of local laws and Acts, damage/vandalism to relevant stakeholder.
- Inspecting ticket parking machines to ensure operation and report malfunctions to the City’s contractor as required.
- Attending Court and present evidence in relation to prosecutions as required.
**To be successful in this role, you will possess**
- Essential - Regulatory Office Compliance Skills 1 & 2 (ROCS) (formally Municipal Law A & B).
- Certificate IV in Local Government Regulatory Services (desirable).
- Essential - Current National Police Clearance.
- Essential - Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
**Other skills**:
- Previous experience in a ranger or parking officer role.
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution experience.
- Knowledge of court procedures including giving evidence.
