**Company Overview**:

The business is now embracing the opportunity to benefit from greater insights and efficiencies in its core planning functions and is seeking a Merchandise Planner to go on this journey of growth with them. As a Merchandise Planner, you will work with the Merchandise Category Managers within a specific category. This role will be jointly responsible for maximising sales, gross profit, and optimising inventory & GMROI. You will work closely with supply chain and commercial finance teams as a true business partner. Your key responsibility will be to provide valuable insights through analysis of the merchandise categories to enhance decision making within the merchandise group.

**Rundown of Responsibilities**:

- Contribute to the development of key strategies and initiatives for the Merchandise Group to support business units
- Create strategic financial plans that support the merchandise plans
- Report and analyse sales and margin performance of product categories
- Manage the product lifecycle in collaboration with Merchandise Managers
- Analysis of promotional plans and recommend forward actions to optimise sales and margin
- Complete yearly category analysis and partner with the Category Managers on range reviews and ranging strategies
- Manage the merchandise financial plans with the Merchandise General Manager and identify risk and opportunities and forward actions.

**What it Takes**:

- Demonstrated merchandise analytics and planning experience, within a retail environment
- Ideally tertiary qualification in finance, economics, commerce or a related discipline
- Strong financial acumen with highly developed numeracy and analytical skills
- Experience in the management of sales, gross profit and margin, stock and stock turns
- Ability to work with complexity and strong Influential communication skills in order to introduce new concepts and bring them to life through demonstrating the benefit to key stakeholders
- Expertise and speed in your technical skills set with advanced MS Excel, planning and data tools so that you can navigate a new environment with ease
- An energetic and purposeful approach to your work.
