The Opportunity: The Junior Merchandise Planner supports the Planning and Buying teams in achieving sales growth and inventory efficiency. This role assists with reporting, analysis, and planning activities to ensure the right products are available at the right time, contributing to strong sales, margin, and stock outcomes. The role works closely with the Merchandise Planners, Category Managers, and key stakeholders across the business. Essential Functions
- Merchandise Planning
- Assist in developing and maintaining seasonal merchandise plans to achieve financial objectives.
- Support tracking and reporting of key financial metrics including sales, OTB, stock turn, sell-through, and gross profit.
- Provide accurate data and insights to help identify sales and margin opportunities.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reporting packs for business review.
- Product & Assortment
- Assist Category Managers and Planners with range planning, buy quantities, and delivery schedules.
- Conduct hindsight analysis and report on product performance to support future buying decisions.
- Monitor performance of key lines and support forecasting and replenishment recommendations.
- Help track markdowns, promotions, and pricing updates.
- Inventory & Allocation
- Support inventory management and stock movement between stores, warehouse, and channels.
- Assist with replenishment strategies and monitor overstock/understock risks.
- Contribute to store grading and allocation reviews to ensure optimal stock distribution.
- Update and maintain allocation and planning data across systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with key teams including Finance, Retail, Product, Marketing, and Digital to support alignment on merchandise strategies.
- Maintain data accuracy across all systems and reports.
- Participate in team meetings and share relevant performance insights.
- Support the implementation and testing of new tools, systems, and processes in Planning & Allocation.
- Key Attributes
- 1–2 years' experience in merchandise planning, allocation, or retail buying (fashion or lifestyle preferred).
- Strong analytical and numerical ability with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
- Organised, proactive, and able to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commercially aware with a customer-first mindset.
