The Planning and Development Directorate is responsible for the sustainable and responsible development of the City’s neighbourhoods - both residential and commercial.

This high-performing team deals with a wide range of interesting environmental health matters to help to achieve positive public health outcomes for the City’s 243,000 residents and visitors.

**About the Position**

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining public, environmental health, and environmental-related services, programs, and projects in accordance with statutory obligations, Business Plans, operational procedures, and Council policies.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Respond to written and verbal customer enquiries.
- Conduct inspections and maintain accurate records.
- Collect evidence, make reports, and attend court as required.
- Undertake monitoring and sampling in accordance with Business Unit programs.
- Prepare reports and provide advice to outside agencies.
- Assist with training for students and technical officers.

**About You**
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Health acceptable to the Chief Health Officer is essential (_please note that Environmental Science, Nursing or other public health professional qualifications are not relevant to this position_)
- Authorised person and inspector under the Environmental Protection Act for noise and unauthorised discharge.
- High level of knowledge and understanding of Environmental Health principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to negotiate at high levels.
- Advanced skills using MS Office Suite.
- ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.

This permanent full-time position is a Level 7 Inside Workforce Agreement positions which attract a salary from $96,731 - $101,823.62 gross pro rata per annum plus superannuation..
