Alexandria, Australia Ampol Full time

Are you ready to shape the future of retail? We’re seeking a **Category Manager** with a sharp commercial mind, a strategic approach to buying and planning, and a passion for delivering customer-focused product solutions. This is your opportunity to make a real impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where innovation, insight, and execution come together to drive performance.

**About Ampol**

Our company has always been about more than fuel. Fuel may be the foundation of our business, but our motivation and purpose come from the people, businesses, industries and communities we engage with. From our origins until today, we’ve always been inspired by the role we can play in people’s lives - to keep them moving, to make journeys happen. Here at Ampol, we are proud of our heritage as Australia’s only Australian owned fuel brand. For over 100 years we have supported Australians to travel far and wide, and we’ll be here for 100 more powering better journeys for today and tomorrow.

We are proud to be recognised as an employer of choice for women and are winners of an Employer Brand award through LinkedIn.

**About the Role**

As a **Category Manager,** you’ll be at the heart of our commercial strategy - managing key product categories and supplier relationships to maximise sales, margin, and space efficiency across our **Foodary network**. You will support the development and execution of category strategies that fuel growth, enhance customer value, and contribute directly to our bottom line.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Manage product range, pricing, promotional plans, and layout to drive category performance.
- Analyse and report on category performance to identify growth opportunities.
- Maintain the category price file, ensuring alignment with regional pricing and the broader Retail Business Plan.
- Build and maintain strong, profitable relationships with suppliers.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Category Managers and senior leadership.
- Lead presentations and discussions with mid-to-senior level management.
- Ensure accurate and strategic execution of commercial programs from concept to rollout.

**What We’re Looking For**
- Proven experience in a buying or category management role, ideally within the retail sector.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Confidence managing supplier negotiations and partnerships.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to turn data and insights into actionable plans.

**Why Join Us?**
- Be part of a leading retail business with strong growth plans.
- Work in a high-impact role where your decisions directly influence profitability.
- Collaborate with talented professionals who are passionate about innovation and execution.
- Access career development opportunities and ongoing support to advance your career.
- Our total remuneration is competitive. This is across base salary, a performance incentive, employee share offers and a 25% discount on Fuel for two privately used cars
- We are flexible. Many of our teams have embraced hybrid work, balancing time spent remote working, with time spent at an office to connect and work together where it adds value.
- We value recognition. We have an internal recognition platform amplifying the achievements of those who do great work and demonstrate our capabilities and values.
- Career development and learning opportunities including LinkedIn Learning and other tailored training solutions
- BabyCare Package - financial and flexible support for parents transitioning back to work
- Need some wheels? Novated Lease options are available
- Invest in your future with the Employee Share Scheme
- Care for your Community. Spend one paid day a year volunteering with one of our Ampol Foundation partners.
