Unique Study Coordinator role (with opportunity for higher degree)
**The opportunity**:
This position offers an opportunity to coordinate a global health research project alongside the Principal Investigator. The PhD will join the dynamic and diverse MCRI Tropical Diseases Group, which is led by Professor Andrew Steer. This study is a collaborative effort between MCRI, the National Ministry of Health and Medical Services and key collaborating research institutions in Australia and overseas. It is a randomised controlled trial of mass drug administration combinations for neglected tropical diseases in a country in the Pacific. The role will have unique challenges as well as rewards. The student will have opportunities to live and work for significant periods in the country of implementation providing support and direction to the study teams in the field.
**Your responsibilities include**:
Assisting and contributing to data generation for research, publications and literature reviews
Contributing to the development of new study/research protocols and ensure the effective management of the study and care requirements of the participants are fully considered
Coordinating and monitoring study progress and provide regular updates to investigators
Understanding of ethics submission process, completes ethics and regulatory documentation that require submission to the Human Research Ethics Committee and/or research governance manager
Responding to site and study related issues and recommend corrective actions and/or escalate to supervisors in a timely manner
**What we need from you**:
Degree/Honours qualification in Science, medicine, public health or related discipline OR an appropriate level of experience in a relevant field
Ability to secure an acceptance at University of Melbourne as evidenced by outstanding transcripts
Ability to travel internationally for up to 9-months in country in the first year and significant period in the following years
Experience in project management, in developing project plans and bringing a project to fruition within budget and agreed timelines
Experience in managing multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse teams
