Position Summary

The Community Services Group (CSG) develops, maintains, and analyses national data to support monitoring

and reporting of:

- The health and welfare of key subpopulations, including older Australians, people with disability, and

victims and perpetrators of family, domestic and sexual violence.
- Use of services within a range of health and welfare sectors, including community-based services

focused on aged care, disability, and family, domestic and sexual violence.
- Pathways and outcomes for the general population, key subpopulations and health and welfare

service users.

There are three aged care units in CSG: the GEN and Aged Care Data Unit (GACDU); the Ageing and Aged

Care Analysis Unit (ACCAU); and the Aged Care Data Improvement Unit (ACDIU).

The Ageing and Aged Care Analysis Unit (AACAU) is seeking a Team Leader (EL1) to lead and deliver a range

of aged care data analysis projects. AACAU reports on a range of topics relevant to ageing and aged care,

including the health and well-being of older people, unmet need for services and access to aged care; the

interface between health service use and aged care, the aged care workforce; and the National Aged Care

Mandatory Quality Indicator Program that monitors the quality of care in aged care services.

Under broad direction you will have:

- Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills, including the ability to analyse complex data and

create and interpret tabular and graphical outputs using a range of software.
- Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information from a

range of sources to produce high quality written work in a range of formats and the ability to verbally

communicate with various audiences.
- Work collaboratively and lead a team of data analysts and analytical projects. Build capability in a

team environment through coaching others, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and

encouraging career development.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience effectively leading, planning and managing projects.
- Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to determine priorities, develop local

strategies, procedures and work practices and manage complex projects.
- Represent the AIHW at meetings, conferences or seminars and liaise with people both inside and

outside the AIHW as relevant to the above duties.
