**Your Opportunity**: The role provides informed accurate and defensible advice to business units, and schools across the department throughout Queensland. Experience undertaking Privacy Impacts Assessments (PIAs), and investigating, managing, and reporting on privacy breaches and privacy complaints would be highly regarded. Applicants should have a working knowledge of current Queensland Government information security and classification schemes. The role overseas two senior privacy officer's and one privacy officer and reports to the Manager, Privacy and Safer Technologies. Your Role As the Principal Privacy Officer you will have responsibility for the following: - Lead the development and implementation of a departmental privacy management plan, and report on progress of the plan's implementation to the Information and Innovation Steering Committee and Executive Management Board. - Partner with ICT enabled and non-ICT enabled projects, and business units to govern privacy and data ethics assessments for project and business unit initiatives. Use sustainable and defensible processes for identifying potential risk events, quantifying and documenting the probability of occurrence, the impact on the business and actions to be performed to mitigate the risk and to reduce the potential impact on the business. - Acts as the organisation's primary privacy contact with relevant regulatory bodies and establish policy and standards to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulation and industry better practice standards. Leads development and communication of the department's privacy policies. (SFIA Level 7 - GOVN) - Reviews proposals for new digital initiatives and provides specialist advice on adherence to Information Privacy Principles (IPP's),. (SFIA Level 5 - IRMG) - Develops privacy and information policy, standards, procedures and guidelines. Contributes to the development of organisational strategies that address the evolving business risk and information control requirements. Derives adoption of, and adherence to, policies and standards through the provision of expert advice and guidance.
