**As the Correspondence Officer, AO4 you will**:
- Create and manage ministerial and executive requests in Ministerial and Executive Correspondence System (MECS) for departmental officers to action.
- Support the DES executive and officers in relation to using MECS for ECU purposes, as requested.
- Provide advice and support to officers in the preparation of ministerial and executive replies and related documentation, particularly around processes, format, style, and other technical aspects of the documentation.
- Monitor the timeliness and quality of draft ministerial and executive correspondence and briefs.
- Establish and maintain a network of departmental contacts for ECU matters and establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Office of the Minister and DES Executive Leadership Team.
- Research and draft routine replies to correspondence on selected issues as required.
- Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.

**This position requires**:
- Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, and ability to use the workflow system, MECS, to manage high level documents throughout DES.
- Proven ability to edit and monitor briefs and responses to correspondence to ensure compliance with DES guidelines and standards.
- Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with team members and customers. Responds under direction to changes in customer needs and expectations.
- Personal responsibility for accurate completion of work and a commitment to see that goals are achieved.
- Demonstration of sound level of consultative and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate on confidential and sensitive matters.
- Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of innovation, respect, and inclusion.
