**Your new company**

Hays is assisting a local government client who is seeking a Workers Compensation Consultant to join the Organisational Wellness, Safety & Health branch on an ongoing temporary basis commencing ASAP.

**Your new role**

The primary purpose of this position is to effectively and efficiently manage a wide range of statutory claims within Local Government ensuring the self-insurer’s compliance with the Q-COMP legislation and standards.

Key Accountabilities include:

- Assisting in the assessment and manage workers’ compensation statutory claims in accordance to best-practice standards
- Assisting clients to develop strategies to manage workers’ compensation liabilities and to improve their workers’ compensation performance
- Co-ordinating claims management with rehabilitation personnel to achieve early and sustainable return to work
- Maintaining compliance with systems and procedures for workers’ compensation
- Providing ongoing education and information in relation to workers’ compensation. Contribute to and support team activities to enhance achievement of team goals
- Providing consultancy services to business units and divisions to assist in development of Zero Harm strategies and the workplace health and safety agenda
- Providing dedicated customer service by making sure the needs and aspirations of customers are understood and that they are addressed with honesty, fairness, sensitivity and dignity even when the outcome is unable to fully meet the customer expectations.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Sound experience and working knowledge of Queensland Workers’ Compensation and other relevant legislation, particularly as it relates to the administration and management of statutory claims
- Sound experience to plan, coordinate and prioritise tasks and manage a caseload in order to meet deadlines in a self-managed environment
- Proven oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively negotiate with internal and external clients
- Ability to represent the Brisbane City Council in a professional manner to outside agencies
- Proven analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work either individually or as part of a team to meet prescribed outcomes
