The Energy Climate Change and Sustainability group (ECCS) is seeking two seasoned **Executive Officers**to deliver a variety of high-level executive, secretariat, and project management services to the Executive Director Strategy and Implementation (transitioning to Executive Director Net Zero and Strategy) and the Executive Director Energy (transitioning to Executive Director Consumer Energy). The roles involve supporting strategic initiatives, managing communications, and overseeing the implementation of both strategic and operational objectives across it’s respective Division.
The Executive Director Net Zero and Strategy is responsible for leading cross-sector initiatives and strategic policy development to address emerging issues in the transition to net zero and building resilience to climate change.
The Executive Director Consumer Energy is responsible for leading initiatives serving NSW energy consumers, including driving benefits for households and small businesses through the shift to renewable energy.
The successful Executive Officer/s will play an active role in providing high
- level strategic advice to the relevant Executive Director, liasing with other Senior Executives and Executive Offices and developing projects and process to ensure a high-performing Executive Office for each Division.
The Executive Officer will also be responsible for ensuring the coordination of quality and timely briefs and responses to correspondence and other information requests for the Division to meet the requirements of the Executive Director, Deputy Secretary, ECCS and the Department’s Secretary.
On a day -to-day basis, the Executive Office roles involve:
- Managing a high-performing team of up to six direct reports including developing professional development plans, considering leave requests, reviewing flex sheets.
- Coordinating priorities for Executive Director’s and facilitating effective communication across Divisional teams to align efforts with organizational goals.
- Coordinating incoming requests from the Minister, Secretary and Deputy Secretary including identifying the most appropriate staff from across the ECCS Group to respond, tracking progress against deadlines and reviewing responses for consistency with the Department’s style guide.
- Preparing written materials (including speaking points, status reports, briefings, and presentations) to support the Executive Director in parliamentary, ministerial, steering committee meetings and other forums.
- Acting as a trusted advisor by identifying emerging issues or challenges with the delivery of Division priorities, providing strategic advice, and developing proactive recommendations and solutions to enhance decision-making and overall effectiveness.
- Managing internal projects and cross-functional initiatives, including developing and reviewing procedures and reforms to improve the Divisions ways of working and to drive organisational priorities.
- Building and maintaining collaborative relationships across the Department and with external stakeholders to foster alignment, support delivery priorities, and ensure seamless communication.
**About You**
To be successful in the role you will have experience in:
- Providing positive leadership of high-performing people and project teams.
- Providing executive level support, co-ordination and strategic and operational advice
- Developing systems and processes to coordinate tasks across different areas of an organisation.
- Coordinating a high volume of requests and tasks working to short timeframes
- Liaising with cross-Government and external stakeholders, including Local, State and Federal Government departments
- Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Developing energy and / or climate change public policy or government programs.
- Supporting or managing an executive’s office.
