The Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) Facilitators, run groups for men who have been using violence in their intimate partner relationships. While the main focus of the MBCP is to address and hold men accountable for their use of violence against women and children, the program also provides support through the role of the Family Safety Contact Worker for women who have been impacted by the perpertrator’s use of family violence towards them.
The Men’s Behaviour Change Program is governed by No to Violence and the Men’s Referral Service and aims to promote the safety of women and children, whilst holding men accountable for their use of violence and challenging their beliefs and attitudes.
The Program focuses on close partnerships with Victorian Police as well as other relevant state government programs, including family violence services for victim survivors, Integrated Family Services, No to Violence, Men’s Referral Service and the Department of Justice and Regulation.
The role you could play
- Conducting professional intake and assessment for men and women who have used or experienced family violence
- Co-facilitating online Men’s Behaviour Change groups, including after-hours group facilitation
- Providing individual counselling and case coordination services to men and their families
- Conducting on-going risk assessments and developing safety plans to mitigate risk and ensure safety
- Ensuring that the needs and safety of the families take priority at all times
- Delivering services to quality standards, complying with relevant legislation and contractual requirements
What you will bring
- A minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work or related discipline or recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalency
- Demonstrated experience working within Family Violence programs
- Demonstrated experience working with men using violence
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation, ideally within the Men's Behaviour Change Program
- Strong and authentic interpersonal skills with experience working with a range of clients
- Someone who is committed to ending Family Violence and understands the drivers of family violence
- The understanding of the complexities that come with working with Men who use violence
- The ability to analyse information, undertake assessments and provide advice and guidance to other practitioners
- Relevant child protection requirements are obtained for example Working with children check
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
