Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Therapeutic Key Worker that will work with families to help empower them to manage to take charge of their lives, including connection and positive engagement with their community. Co-ordinate and implement the delivery of high quality services that provides genuine and positive outcomes for victim survivors of family violence. Provide senior level practice consultation, joint planning and assessment and facilitate coordinated service responses, within a child centred, whole of family framework. To ensure the program is operated in accordance with service and quality standards, program targets, DHHS service agreement, organisational policies and accepted standards of practice.
You will successfully
- Support victim survivor of family violence using a trauma informed approach to ensure recovery includes safety, empowerment and connection. This includes; intake and assessment, therapeutic support and recovery planning.
- Accurately assess risk particularly in relation to systemic abuse and family violence - assist parents/carers and children to develop concrete safety plans
- Provide specialist therapeutic interventions using trauma informed counselling in all areas of the TRAK Forward model.
- Participate in group work facilitation and implement evidence based group work models which aid parents, children and whole families in their recovery form trauma associated with family violence experience as required. This includes coordinating all aspects of group work delivery, including promotion, referrals and assessments, co-facilitation arrangements, venue hire and catering.
- Provide a suite of services that respond to family’s needs, drawing on the skill and expertise of the broader team to respond to infants, children, young people and parents, as well as actively engaging with male perpetrators of family violence where safe to do so, and where this maximises victim-survivor freedom and choice.
- Work effectively with Aboriginal families, families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, families living with disability, kinship carers and grandparents, and LGBTIQ families.
- Develop and maintain effective external relationships, professional networks, referral pathways and work collaboratively with other professionals.Provide consultation and case direction and participate in and provide oversight to joint planning and assessment processes
- Actively participate in the further development of a dynamic, cohesive and multidisciplinary team by participating and contributing to all meetings and processes including; team meetings, intake meetings, duty system, professional development, supervision and annual reviews.
This position is part time position (22.8 hours per week) fixed term for 12 months based in the Inner Gippsland catchment, Leongatha.
You will have
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social work, Psychology, Early Childhood Specialist and/or related behavioural sciences at degree level with substantial experience
- Knowledge and experience in the use of current and relevant theoretical frameworks in relation to working with parents and children, adult and children victim/survivors in the context of family violence
- Demonstrates knowledge of FDV including context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations and legislation
- Understand and applies FDV models, approaches, theories and practice when dealing with clients
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
