This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced
**Strategy Analyst** based in
**Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney or Perth **to join our Strategy and Portfolio Development team.

The
**Strategy Analyst** will use and improve valuation techniques for Shell Energy’s physical and financial electricity portfolio over investment timeframes.

The role will also assist with analysis and modelling for other specific strategy projects. The analyst will read sources of industry intelligence to extract key insights related to wholesale markets and work on power price modelling development and interpretation.

The Strategy and Portfolio Development team is responsible for supporting the corporate growth and sustainability of Shell Energy.

With honesty, integrity and respect, you will:

- Use the results of market modelling to;
- Build and maintain asset class revenue forecasts;
- Build and maintain pricing models for PPAs and more bespoke energy financial contracts;
- Build and maintain a view of relative market risk of different types of portfolio positions;
- Interrogate the results of full market modelling for insights, or modelling flaws;
- Read and summarise major industry reports such as ESOO and ISP;
- Form views on reasonable assumptions to underpin full market modelling;
- Building models to answer specific questions as required;
- Documenting and presenting analysis and conclusions and attending key meetings.

**What you’ll bring**

Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:

- Extensive experience in a quantitative field, or a research higher degree or equivalent;
- Strong knowledge of electricity markets, preferably the NEM and/or the WEM;
- Knowledge of economics, financial markets, risk quantification, and investment theory, either from formal or independent learning, previous on-the-job experience, or general curiosity) ;
- Ability to work with other team members in Python specifically, although other tools are also valued;
- Data visualisation skills;
- SQL experience is desirable or demonstrated ability to learn technical skills quickly;
- Ability to summarise and communicate findings and insights in written, visual or verbal format;
- Experience that demonstrates intellectual curiosity and continuous learning is advantageous. and
- A degree in a quantitative discipline, or evidence of equivalent deeply technical self-learning.
