The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) is responsible for the supervision of children and young people in the Victorian criminal justice system. Youth Justice is responsible for overseeing services responding to children and young people in the criminal justice system, providing strategic advice and delivering strategic outcomes to address youth crime and reduce offending.

The Community Operations & Practice Team provides leadership, oversight and advice to support the ongoing development of state-wide community-based youth justice services. Reporting to the Director, the Manager will lead work to support the delivery of operational oversight and leadership; the provision of specialist technical knowledge; and continuous practice improvement and development across diversionary and statutory community youth justice services. The role will involve regular liaison with frontline, operational staff in community youth justice as well as senior decision makers

**The Opportunity**
- Fixed term, full-time position until 30 June 2028 based in Melbourne.
- VPS Grade 6 role: $138,631 - $185,518 per year plus superannuation.
- Lead work to strengthen statewide community Youth Justice operations and practice through the delivery of projects, key initiatives and a range of operational support functions.
- Lead a small team to deliver the above work, including supervision, professional development and team management.
- Provide oversight and leadership to Youth Justice colleagues and senior decision makers on continuous practice improvement and development across diversionary and statutory community youth justice services.
- Provide technical advice to senior stakeholders and work groups on youth justice related practice, operational and service development matters.

**To be**successful in this role you will have experience working in senior VPS policy or operational roles, with a proven track record in public sector management and project or program delivery. You will have experience or knowledge of the Youth Justice community environment and contemporary best practice in case management.**

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.
