The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Assistant Manager, Operations to provide a critical role within the Sentence Calculation and Warrant Administration Unit.

**About the Business Unit**

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's corrections system, which incorporates prisons and Community Correctional Services. As a service agency within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

Corrections Victoria manages Community Correctional Services locations across the state and is responsible for managing Victoria's eleven public prisons and overseeing the contracts relating to the management of three privately operated prisons. In doing so, Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders and the community to promote positive behaviour change.

The Sentence Calculation and Warrant Administration (SCWA) Unit within the Sentence Management Division is responsible for processing of court orders, prisoner discharges and sentence calculation to ensure that prisoners are appropriately and accurately held or released in accordance with legislative requirements. The SCWA Unit is also responsible for coordinating core processes that support the attendance of prisoners at court in a timely manner.

**About the Role**

The Assistant Manager Operations is responsible for ensuring the ongoing integrity and quality of SCWA operations in accordance with legislative and organisational priorities and is responsible for maintaining staff rosters and other imperatives to ensure the smooth operations of the unit. The Assistant Manager Operations is also responsible for proactively driving, informing and implementing system and operational enhancements with a focus on innovation and best practice.

SCWA operates shifts on a roster basis, with coverage from 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and this role will be required to be on stand-by for any urgent issues that emerge outside core business hours.

As the Assistant Manager, Operations, some of your duties will include:

- Managing the operations of the SCWA Unit to ensure administration of warrants and sentence calculation processes are consistent with the relevant legislative, policy and operational frameworks.
- Leading the implementation of effective and efficient business processes to ensure compliance with legislative obligations across and large operational team.
- Driving ongoing service improvement and best practice operations.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A background in sentence calculation and warrant administration would be highly regarded.

**Qualifications**
- There are no mandatory qualifications for this role however a background in sentence calculation and administration of warrants is highly desirable.
