The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Case Management Practice Lead, to provide a critical role within Community Operations and Parole, System Integrity and Workforce Capability.

About the Business Unit

Justice Services is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS) across more than 35 locations. It ensures individuals are safely managed in the community and aims to rehabilitate individuals by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

Community Operations and Parole is responsible for providing central end-to-end oversight of the CCS service system and includes System Integrity and Workforce Capability (SIWC), Practice Development and Review Branch, Court Assessment and Prosecutions Services Central Unit, Statewide Community Work and Partnerships and Parole Central Unit. Community Operations and Parole also includes and the Adult Parole Board (the Board) Secretariat, which provides operational and administrative support to ensure the Board can perform its functions.

About the Role

SIWC is responsible for providing best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending including quality assurance systems for risk assessment and case management. It is also responsible for the delivery of high-quality learning and development programs to build and maintain the capability of the CCS workforce to contribute to high quality practice.

The Case Management Practice Lead is responsible for providing expert advice to CCS staff regarding best practice case management and will contribute to the integrity, implementation and embedding of continuous practice improvement. The Case Management Practice Lead will be responsible for a portfolio of activities, which may include:

  • Providing support and advice to specific CCS regions
  • Development and implementation of priority strategic projects
  • Internal and external stakeholder management
  • Management of contracted services.

Portfolio allocation may change depending on organisational priorities, and travel to regional locations will be required.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to CCS practitioners and managers to encourage and support best practice case management.
  • Contribute to practice development and delivery of professional development and training for CCS practitioners, managers and leaders.
  • Provide training, mentoring, role modelling and authoritative advice to CCS in relation to the case management of people subject to community-based dispositions.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in best practice case management and associated practices in a forensic setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding and operational knowledge of CCS, and key issues impacting Justice Services, Corrections Victoria or like organisations.
  • Sound knowledge of Victorian government administrative processes (desirable).

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
