**The Role**
The Discipline Leader - Integrated Thermal Management Systems is responsible for leading and inspiring a team of engineers and scientists in the analysis, design, and testing of active thermal management solutions for hypersonic weapons and propulsion systems.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

- Ability to form and lead dynamic teams and provide timely outcomes to complex problems.
- Provision of technical guidance and mentorship to team members, and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Development and leadership of applied research programs to advance the state-of-the-art in active thermal management systems.
- Overseeing mechanical system testing in both lab and field environments, ensuring systems meet all specifications.
- Development and maintenance of strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Supporting the Group Leader DHT to maintain strategic alignment of the broader team.

**About our Team**
Sensors and Effectors Division applies science and technology to the sensing for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance and the delivery of physical effects relevant to the ADF. This role is based at DSTG Brisbane in the Advanced Propulsion and Weapons Effects Branch’s Disruptive Hypersonic Technologies (DHT) Science and Technology Capability (STC). The DHT STC leads the exploration and demonstration of emerging and future hypersonic concepts and airbreathing disruptive technologies that may offer game-changing capabilities. The S&T6 Discipline Leader reports to the Group Leader Disruptive Hypersonic Technologies and under broad direction is responsible for the provision of effective leadership of the Integrated Thermal Management Systems Discipline.
- A deep technical understanding of hypersonic aerothermodynamic phenomena and how it could be harnessed, or exploited, to support offensive and defensive systems.
- A passion for and demonstrated ability to solve highly complex integrated problems with a high degree of scientific rigour and exercise exceptional judgement.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with a proven track-record of delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Be a self-starter with a solution orientated attitude and a proven ability to adapt within a dynamic environment.
- A history of developing and sustaining strong relationships and collaborations with industry, academic and national/international government agency partners, and of creating opportunities to work cooperatively.
- Possess well-developed communication skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, and the aptitude for working effectively in a team environment.
