**The Role**
Research Engineering (RE), an advanced engineering branch within Defence Science and Technology Group, are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the prestigious team at the forefront of engineering solutions for Defence Research as the Hypersonic Tunnel Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and oversee the operations of the hypersonic tunnel facility, ensuring its efficient and effective utilisation.
- Lead a team of technicians and engineers.
- Build and sustain effective relationships within a network of internal and external stakeholders in support of hypersonic shock tunnel operational, capability and compliance requirements
- Contribute to hypersonic shock tunnel research/experimental activities via the provision of specialist technical and administrative advice.
- Generate new knowledge to produce enhanced capability for clients and sponsors that depend upon hypersonic shock tunnel outputs.
- Deliver high quality reports, briefs and presentations relevant to shock tunnel activities.

Research Technology and Operations Division (RTO) delivers specialist capabilities to Defence Innovation Science and Technology (IS&T).

RTO comprises a professional workforce of engineers, technicians, computational scientists and other staff who provide a wide range of highly specialised and unique research capability and innovative solutions delivering advanced research platforms for defence, national security and the wider IS&T ecosystem.

- Emerging digital science capabilities, including computational and data intensive science, research data and information and laboratory and experimental systems

- Nationally recognised, unique and novel research engineering capabilities
- Development and implementation of the Outstanding Research Infrastructure Powering Innovation pillar, a major component of the More Together: Defence Science and Technology Strategy 2030
- Defence innovation, science and technology compliance, assurance and sovereignty through complex research safety, research security, workforce capability and talent and scientific resource management
- RTO also provides specialised research enabling capabilities to other groups and services with Defence, the Australian Intelligence community, our allies and/or our partners in industry and academia.

RE provide professional and advanced manufacturing to Defence to enable delivery of products, prototypes and models for research, development and experimentation. RE fuses talented professional engineering and technical staff with world’s best design software and cutting edge fabrication capabilities.
