What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Crime Strategy Assistant within the Crime Strategy Team, Canberra.
The Crime Strategy Team provides strategic policy advice, coordination and support to:
The Transnational Serious and Organised Crime (TSOC) strategy leads
Transnational Operations (TNO)
Economic, Corporate Crime and Corruption (EC3)
the Office of the AC Crime Command
The Crime Strategy Assistant role will be responsible for assisting the Crime Strategy Team with a range of administrative and strategic support duties, including secretariat support, reporting, governance, finance, research and analysis. You will have the opportunity to develop a range of skills and build a wide network within the Crime Command teams.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
You will have strong organisational skills and use your initiative to manage a variety of work in a fast-paced environment. You will also communicate clearly and effectively, and liaise with a range of areas to produce outcomes. You are not required to have experience in every aspect of the role, but must have a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
Responsibilities of this position in the Crime Strategy team will include:
Providing support to the Crime Command Executive on reporting, governance, HR and finance tasks;
Performing secretariat duties for various Boards within Crime Command, e.g. the Criminal Communications Board and the Centinel Treatment Forums, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and drafting outcomes;
Liaising with stakeholders and coordinating and progressing input to requests;
Assisting in drafting briefings, talking points and presentations for the Executive;
Managing team files, inboxes and reporting;
Undertaking a range of operational support tasks, projects or research to support the Crime Command Executive; and
Essential Requirements
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
The ability to travel interstate, overnight if required, to provide in-person secretariat support
Contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role and/or a willingness to learn
