**Automation Technology Specialist**:
Hello. We’re Virgin Australia. We’re the airline that’s always done things a little different. Our way. The Virgin way. We’re on a mission to make flying better than ‘nice’. And to do that, it takes a team of talented people who are passionate about customer experience, doing the right thing always, with a focus on safety - in the air, on the ground, and in our workplaces. A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.
**What you’ll be doing**
As an Automation Technology Specialist, you will design and develop innovative automation solutions to meet customer requirements and work closely with the Airline Automation Lead to enhance team expertise. Your primary focus will be on Sabre Intelligence Exchange (IX) to improve Virgin Australia’s processes across a range of business areas and explore Generative AI technologies. You’ll also play a key role in sharing knowledge, training teammates, and leveraging new technologies to drive team success and elevate customer experience.
**You’ll be great in this role if you...**
- Have a degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years' experience in software development
- Proven hands-on experience with cloud computing (AWS), Java (11 or newer), Sabre Intelligence Exchange, Oracle SQL, Grafana/Prometheus and GitLab
- Strong understanding of automation technologies, their integration and potential impact on our operations
- Familiarity with Passenger Service Systems (PSS) and flight operations
- Can demonstrate the ability to design and develop innovative solutions.
- Passion for technology, continuous learning, and the ability to research and adopt new tools and techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and key stakeholders.
- Able to work independently, managing competing priories and deadlines.
**Desirable but not essential...**
- AWS Solution Architect Associate or associated Google Cloud Certifications
- Familiarity with airline systems like Sabre or Amadeus PSS
- Understanding of Generative AI technologies.
- Experience with tools like ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence, Lucidchart, and Microsoft Teams
- Experience developing CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of automation technologies, APIs, workflow tools, and chatbot technologies
**What you’ll get from us**
We’re committed to looking after you, with some of the best benefits and conditions in the industry - including (but not limited to):
- Discounted flights for you and your loved ones (plus $1000 travel credits per year)
- Flexible and hybrid working, with a mix of working from home and the office
- ‘Dress for Your Day’ - wear whatever makes you feel great for the type of work you do and the day you have ahead of you
- One of Brisbane’s most admired office locations, with South Bank train station, a supermarket, pharmacy, lunch options, the Busway nearby, a rooftop restaurant, onsite gym and South Bank across the road
- Discounts on travel insurance, lounge membership, car hire, accommodation, and experiences worldwide
- Cheaper hospitality, retail, technology, beauty and wellness services
- Free counseling and online tools to support your physical, mental, social and financial health.
