About the role
We're seeking an experienced Document Automation Specialist to join our team and lead the implementation of automation and AI strategies that will shape the future of document preparation and handling at Green Mortgage Lawyers.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a forward-thinking law firm, where your expertise in Microsoft Word styling, data merging, and document automation will be both valued and expanded. You'll play a key role in modernising our document workflows, integrating emerging technologies such as OpenXML and AI-driven automation, and driving efficiency across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Design and maintain complex Word templates using advanced styling, merge fields, and sub-documents.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to automate complex and high-volume document workflows.
- Develop and implement automation solutions using OpenXML and other low-code/no-code platforms.
- Provide technical support and training to internal users on document automation tools.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to brand and formatting standards.
- Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and post-implementation support.
About you
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Word, including styles, merge fields, and sub-document handling.
- Strong understanding of relational data structures and constraints.
- Experience with OpenXML, HTML, and CSS is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with document automation platforms (e.g. HotDocs, Contract Express, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- A proactive mindset with a desire to innovate and improve processes.
