**The Role**
Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) is seeking highly motivated professionals to provide capability and coordination for the new National Support Division. If you enjoy a challenge and want to contribute to the future of Defence, we want to hear from you.
In response to the National Defence Strategy, the Government directed Defence to establish a National Support Division (NSD) and National Support Concept. The NSD coordinates Defence’s ability to plan and coordinate whole-of government and whole-of-nation capabilities to improve Defence and the nation’s resilience.
**About our Team**
National Support teams will work collaboratively to enable Defence to plan, organise and draw upon whole-of government and whole-of-nation capabilities to improve Defence and the nation’s resilience. Led by Head National Support, NSD staff will work with Joint Logistics Command (JLC), JCG and the other Groups within Defence to contribute to NSD and Defence wide outcomes.
National Support Division has an integrated workforce comprised of both APS and ADF staff. We work together in a dynamic environment towards the goal of ensuring national preparedness. We are a small and supportive team of professionals who work closely to achieve outcomes. Our team comes from across Defence, with diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. We will ensure you have the opportunity to pursue a range of formal and informal professional development opportunities to support your future career goals.
An ideal National Support Division officer will need the ability to work collaboratively, providing advice and support within a team, and developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. These roles will require the ability to work effectively with JCG’s Divisions and Commands and other groups across Defence to achieve Group and Defence wide outcomes.
To be successful in a National Support role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated understanding of National Security context.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to lead yourself and others through collaborative relationships and planning.
- The ability to make recommendations to resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
- High-level organisational skills, self-drive and initiative with the ability to influence others to achieve tasks and business objectives.
- The ability to actively influence and engage personnel within the business to ensure that directorate risks are identified and addressed proactively.
- In-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and policy requirements.
- Qualifications in Business Administration, Contracting, Public Administration or related discipline.
- The interpersonal skills to foster and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that aligns with Defence values.
