Reporting to the Risk Manager, you will play a key role in class-leading project-level risk management in conjunction with key Project team members.
Risk management is about being proactive not reactive. It’s an ongoing, regular, control process. Ensuring risks are actively managed and resolved for the lowest cost to the project. I.e. where the cost of mitigation is lower than the value of the risk.
Risk management ensures control of a project. Project cost efficiencies are achieved my managing risk, where the project risk context is reviewed regularly, risks identified, assessed, and their impact and probability of occurrence understood, with mitigation plans established and followed-up on. Until risks are mitigated, they need to be forecast. This:
- Enables us to identify projects that may be in trouble
- Fewer surprises on projects
- Enables better assessment of risks - i.e. schedule risks can be reviewed in the context of the p6 programme and impact on critical path and completion dates understood.
- Better communication of risks - project sponsors and key stakeholders are on top of information as it unfolds - good or bad. So budgets rely less on guesswork....

- Utilising risk identification and analysis techniques, ensure the initial project risk register is complete and accurate, all risks have been identified, mitigation plans developed, and dates, durations and costs established
- After acceptance of the initial project risk register and establishment of the risk budget for the project, ensuring project risk review workshops are held monthly (as a minimum), key contributors (including schedulers) are invited, identifying new risks, assessing existing risks, reviewing progress of mitigation plans, holding owners to account, and establishing new mitigation plans where required
- Ensure all R&O registers are all submitted / uploaded on a monthly basis.
- Assist with the production of any required Risk Management Reports, highlighting the status of risks across the programme, levels of compliance, frequency of review etc. to drive awareness / culture and enable informed decisions.
- Ensure the P6 project performance baseline is aligned (time and cost) with the initial project risk register accepted by the client during award of the project, and thereafter, the project P6 schedule mirrors the current risk profile of the project in terms of the current, live risks, and their schedule and cost impacts, and that these risks are correctly logic linked to the affected activities.
