**Role purpose**
The HR Manager will provide high level HR generalist and management support to the Perth exchange tower (Perth) office and Perth Advanced Delivery Legal (ADL) office, actively involved in all elements of the HR function.
This role will lead the firm’s early careers programs, resourcing strategies and employee relation initiatives while managing and developing the HR Officer. The role is pivotal in ensuring the firm attracts, develops and retains top talent through effective recruitment processes, employee development programs, and compliance with employment law. The HR Manager will act as a strategic partner to leadership, driving HR initiatives that support the firm’s goals, culture, and ensuring the HR function operates efficiently and effectively.
Working closely with the Head of HR for Australia to deliver complete HR solutions across the following areas:
- Working with the Perth partners and Head of ADL, forecasting and identifying resourcing requirements
- Managing the end to end process for all lateral recruitment across departments in both offices for all staff (legal and support), including creating job descriptions, sourcing, interviewing, and selection.
- Design and implement resourcing solutions based on business need - assists with secondments, work collaboratively with wider team to identify resourcing solutions.
- Manage staff agility with Perth partnership and Head of ADL including both formal A&O programs as well as partner driven client secondments. Seek out ad-hoc opportunities where considered valuable for career development and/or to support the wider A&O network.
- Build and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies.
**Remuneration & Benefits**
- Manage annual process in terms of setting timeframes, liaising with managing partners, ADL and Sydney team on budgets, salary forecasting and the preparation of staff communications.
- Overseeing/checking all data; ensuring accuracy across all metrics and the salary data for Perth and ADL office.
- Collaborates with the Australian team to input into annual salary and bonus awards for Perth and ADL office across all practice groups and departments.
- Collaborates with Australian team to manage general payroll queries, supports team to meet monthly payroll obligations and identifies and manages any risk element.
**Early Careers**
- Manage the annual summer clerk / graduate recruitment campaigns for the Perth office.
- Manage the annual Legal Support Professional recruitment campaign for the ADL office.
- Develop strategies to attract and retain top early career talent.
- Manage clerkship and graduate rotation preferences.
- Oversee the onboarding and development of early careers employees, ensuring they receive appropriate training and mentorship.
**Employee Relations**
- Management of complex HR issues within the Perth and Perth ADL offices including performance management, managing conflict, disciplinary actions, difficult conversations, managing absenteeism.
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct investigations and mediate conflict when necessary.
- Guide Managers and Partners with complex situations and conflict resolution conversations.
- Escalate partner and/or other complex HR issues to Head of HR in Sydney.
- Work with the firm’s internal support functions to deliver solutions to issues.
**Management of HR Officer**
- Oversee the daily activities of the HR Officer, providing guidance and support.
- Delegate tasks and ensure the HR Officer meets deadlines and objectives.
