**About the team**

The Construction Services Group (CSG) is within SafeWork NSW as part of the Better Regulation Division in NSW Department of Customer Service (DCS). It is a highly motivated and collaborative team, with a state-wide focus to making a difference in the construction industry across Metropolitan and Regional NSW. It delivers targeted regulatory compliance and awareness campaigns across residential, commercial and infrastructure construction sectors with a focus on priority harms and illnesses.

The Construction Business & Governance team reports to the Regional Director and supports CSG by providing high-level strategic advice including for Ministerial requests, national committee papers, policy and media requests, reporting and budgeting, governance and risk mitigation by coordinating and managing risk escalation and reporting processes. It supports and manages the CSG decision-making framework to align with the Better Regulation Division and DCS requirements.

This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic and agile leader with the ability to manage the activities of a busy business and governance team, responsible for the delivery of services and programs supporting work health and safety, workers compensation and injury management legislation and its strategic direction across the dynamic Construction Services sector in NSW.
- Managing resources to deliver exemplar services and programs that are consistent, professional, customer centric, and evidence informed in line with organisational direction and relevant legislation, policies and procedures
- Contributing, as part of the Construction leadership team, to the strategic and operational direction of the business to ensure activities of the business unit align with organisational objectives and meet with needs of customers and stakeholders
- Identifying emerging issues and industry trends and initiate action to address identified risks ensuring best practice and innovative services are delivered
- Fostering and maintaining professional working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including those across the branch and division to facilitate desired outcomes and achieve business unit objectives
- Identifying and managing emerging business issues that may impact the business or on matters presenting reputational, social or other risks to the business, recommending and/or mitigation strategies to support optimal service delivery
- Preparing and/or contributing to; Executive and Ministerial submissions, discussion papers, project proposals and briefings for senior managers, ensuring responses and recommendations are consistent with organisational policies and procedures
- Managing high profile and contentious issues associated with the business area provide strategic advice/recommendations to Senior Managers/Executive to support decision making
- Managing financial budgets associated with the efficient running of the Directorate Cost Centres.

- Ability to promote and influence the implementation of organisational direction and programs to internal stakeholders, given their diverse levels of understanding and competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to deal with complex matters, with pressing deadlines, including delivery of high-level information to the Minister’s Office
- Ability to provide strong leadership and direction to an evolving business unit culture within a dynamic and changing environment, while ensuring consistency with organisational and public sector values
- Ability to lead a business unit through innovative use of digital technologies to secure desired strategic outcomes
- High level oral and written communication skills
- A strong understanding of policy, governance and contemporary risk management practices is preferred
