**The Role**
The Future Workforce Capability Programs Officer will have a key role in building the future Defence Science & Technology (S&T) workforce focussing on the skills, expertise, leadership qualities, career pathways and mobility options required to develop experience and skills across the S&T enterprise.
You will look to forecast the skills, qualifications, expertise and other attributes needed for our workforce and culture to deliver against the Defence More, together and Defence S&T Capability Strategic priorities of producing world-leading outcomes to the Australian Defence Force.
You will partner with others to leverage and design robust, research and data driven and practical talent practices and diverse contemporary organisational development strategies, projects and initiatives to support reform, culture and drive engagement through a workforce capability.
You will work to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose and deeply aligned to our strategy to allow the workforce to access opportunities to learn new skills and train the next generation of people working in Defence S&T.
You will work alongside other areas of Defence and the Workforce Capability and Talent (WC&T) team to harness leadership, diversity and inclusion and STEM into development whilst reviewing, developing and implementing program strategies that develop a highly skilled and collaborative Defence S&T workforce.
Some interstate travel will be required.
**About our Team**
The Research Technology and Operations Division (RTOD) is responsible for strategically positioning DSTG to deliver maximum impact for Defence. The Division delivers specialist capabilities to Defence Innovation Science and Technology. The division also develops our highly skilled and collaborative workforce, recognising diversity in partnerships and building a shared culture.
Workforce Capability and Talent (WCT) Branch within RTOD is responsible for building Defence capability through the strategic management of the Defence S&T workforce. WCT ensures there is a strong, diverse pipeline to meet the future workforce demand for Defence science and technology through planning workforce capability, partnering to raise the profile of STEM, engaging with talent pools and developing sustainable talent management strategies. We also lead the implementation of the Brilliant People, Collaborative Culture pillar of the More, Together: Defence Science and Technology Strategy 2030 which focusses on developing a highly skilled and collaborative workforce that recognises diversity in partnerships and builds a shared culture.
- Work as part of a small team to achieve results within defined timeframes.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build strong working relationships and support existing and new partnerships. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are very important.
- Manage multiple programs to meet organisational goals.
- Deliver Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) development programs and events including coordinate the production of resources to communicate activities to our target audiences - DSTG, Publicly Funded Research Agencies and academia.
- Perform research and analysis of workforce trends to inform strategic decision making that will ensure the provision of Science and Technology to support the ADF.
