Groundsperson Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Groundsperson to join our maintenance team at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will be responsible for ensuring the course proper, training tracks, and grounds are always presented in the best possible condition.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management, and possess general operational and mechanical maintenance skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the overall appearance of the racecourse, including gardens, lawns, and surfaces.
  • Operate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front-end loaders, forklifts, and power sweepers.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial, and other surfaces.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management.
  • General operational and mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Licences to operate specialist machinery such as manual vehicles, front-end loaders, and forklifts.
  • Experience in operating plant and equipment, including Bobcat, Grader, and Excavator.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Enjoy working outdoors with a can-do attitude.
