About the Role

The Safety, Risk and Audit Manager is a critical position responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Aviation Academy's safety management system (SMS) and risk management framework. This role also involves conducting audits and investigations, providing expert advice, and ensuring aviation projects align with the University's strategic direction.

Critical to the success of this position is the ability to sustain compliance with national regulators, including CASA and TEQSA, at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality, safety, and risk management systems, processes, and techniques to support the SMS.
  • Provide strategic guidance, advice, and support on matters relating to risk, quality, and compliance.
  • Conduct audits and investigations, and provide expert advice to ensure aviation projects align with the University's strategic direction.
  • Identify and adapt to changes in global regulatory frameworks and update organisational risk strategies and systems as required.
  • Manage compliance and regulatory requirements of aviation contracts, including external regulators.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of Safety Management Systems and aviation accident/incident investigation and human factors.
  • Experience in planning and implementing quality, safety, and risk management systems, processes, and techniques.
  • Proven ability to keep abreast of and identify changes in global regulatory frameworks and adapt organisational risk strategies and systems as required.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of managing compliance and regulatory requirements of aviation contracts.
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance, advice, and support on matters relating to risk, quality, and compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, influence/inspire a safety culture, and develop relationships that aid delivery of business outcomes.
  • Superior attention to detail, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written communications skills.
