Senior Complaints Officer Role with the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria

Working with the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria, as a Senior Complaints Officer is a key opportunity to contribute to a leading organization in the public sector. This role involves managing complaints and public interest disclosures in accordance with the department's Service Charter and relevant statutory framework. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling complaints in an integrity or oversight context, as well as a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as criminal justice, law, or public sector administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of complaints and public interest disclosures, ensuring compliance with the department's Service Charter and relevant statutory framework.
  • Assess and investigate complaints, using research and specialist knowledge to inform decisions.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals and contribute to the growth and development of the Complaints team.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Victoria's public interest disclosure scheme and relevant legislation.

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in handling complaints in an integrity or oversight context.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as criminal justice, law, or public sector administration.
  • Strong research and specialist knowledge skills, with the ability to apply critical thinking and analysis.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the growth and development of the Complaints team.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of public sector administration and the Victorian public sector.

Selection Criteria:
  • Demonstrated experience in handling complaints in an integrity or oversight context.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as criminal justice, law, or public sector administration.
