About the Role:

The Safety, Risk and Audit Manager is a crucial position that oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Aviation Academy's safety management system (SMS) and risk management framework.

This role is responsible for conducting audits and investigations, providing expert advice, and ensuring aviation projects align with the University's strategic direction.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated understanding of Safety Management Systems, aviation accident/incident investigation, and human factors.

They will have experience in planning and implementing quality, safety, and risk management systems, processes, and techniques to support a SMS.

The ideal candidate will be able to keep abreast of and identify changes in global regulatory frameworks and adapt organisational risk strategies and systems as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Aviation Academy's safety management system (SMS) and risk management framework.
  • Conduct audits and investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on risk management and safety matters.
  • Ensure aviation projects align with the University's strategic direction.

About You:

To be successful in this position, you'll need:

  • Demonstrated understanding of Safety Management Systems and aviation accident/incident investigation and human factors.
  • Experience in the successful planning and implementation of quality, safety, and risk management systems, processes, and techniques to support a SMS.
  • Proven ability to keep abreast of and identify changes in global regulatory frameworks and adapt organisational risk strategies and systems as required.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of managing compliance and regulatory requirements of aviation contracts.
  • Ability to provide strategic guidance, advice, and support on matters relating to risk, quality, and compliance.
