About the Role

The Aviation Academy at RMIT University seeks a seasoned Safety Manager and Risk Compliance Officer to oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of its safety management system (SMS) and risk management framework.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting audits and investigations, providing expert advice, and ensuring aviation projects align strategically with the university's direction. Your ability to sustain compliance with national regulators like CASA and TEQSA is critical to our success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement SMS strategies to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct thorough audits and investigations to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide strategic guidance and advice on risk, quality, and compliance matters.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and adapt organisational risk strategies accordingly.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders to foster a collaborative and compliant environment.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups to promote a culture of safety and excellence.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing quality, safety, and risk management systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of aviation regulations, including CASA and TEQSA requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in audit and investigation techniques.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
