Job Title: Senior Manager, Government Relations

Ampersand International is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Government Relations to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the Government Relations strategy to drive engagement with senior Government and Industry stakeholders.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships, including Government, Industry, and community leaders.
  • Coordinate government relations and policy programs, including submissions to Government and monitoring of policy development.
  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with stakeholders who are critical to the company's success, including think tanks and research institutes.
  • Prepare briefings for senior level Government meetings and facilitate meetings as required.
  • Manage key stakeholder lists and databases.
  • Be the key contact point for Government stakeholders.
  • Support growth and social licence objectives by strengthening relationships with third party advocates and membership organisations.
  • Prepare briefings for key influential stakeholders and peak bodies.
  • Develop and activate annual engagement plan with major stakeholders, including key annual events.
  • Lead engagement with key peak bodies, including briefings, research and report writing.
  • Identify and plan to manage potential business risks and continuity issues.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
  • Senior experience working in Government Relations, Corporate Communications or Public Affairs.
  • Well-developed networks within Government, detailed understanding of public policy drivers and decision-making processes in transport and infrastructure and demonstrated ability to influence Government stakeholders on key strategic and policy issues.
  • Significant demonstrated experience in working with senior level Government and Industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as company spokesperson and be the key company representative in senior stakeholder settings.
  • Significant experience in Corporate Reputation Management, preferably in a listed corporate environment, including strategic shareholder engagement and issues management.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills (including briefs, submissions and speeches) and the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to a variety of stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience working in Government Relations in a corporate environment with strong contacts and exposure to infrastructure will be highly regarded.
