About the Role

Mission Australia is seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Risk Management Leader to lead and refine our risk and insurance strategies across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design, implement, and oversee Mission Australia's risk management policies and procedures.
  2. Develop and implement risk management processes across the Housing and Community Services Leadership teams.
  3. Deliver training to Mission Australia staff/services to ensure risk management practices are embedded in the organisation.
  4. Ensure risk management policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and improved.
  5. Ensure risks identified across the organisation are reviewed, managed, and escalated in accordance with policies and procedures.
  6. Ensure the insurance framework is fit-for-purpose and implemented, including the renewal of insurance policies.
  7. Claims management oversight, including reporting and analysis to the Executive Committee and where required, the Board Audit and Risk Committee.
  8. Develop a relationship model aimed at a structured and planned approach to the identification of, and engagement with, key Mission Australia stakeholders, including Executive and Board members.
  9. Ensure a stakeholder engagement plan is in place with key stakeholders identified and a planned approach in place.
  10. Identify staff skills development and training needs and take appropriate action.
  11. Overall responsibility for risk management and bringing subject matter expertise to the development and maintenance of the Mission Australia risk management system.
  12. Produce high-quality reports/dashboards for various Senior Leaders, Committees, and Boards as required for specific purposes.
  13. Lead the continuous review, refinement, and development of risk management processes to ensure consistency in operation and effectiveness in application.
Requirements for Success
  1. Minimum years of risk management experience.
  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  3. Experience in managing insurance programs.
  4. Experience working in Community Services/Not for Profit Organisations.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and application of relevant national and international standards and current best practices.
  6. Demonstrated success in collaboration and building strong, respectful, and robust relationships.
  7. Ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity.
  8. Demonstrate courage in leadership to confront issues and risks and escalate as appropriate in accordance with procedure.
  9. Attention to detail, analytical ability, excellent report writing, and relationship management skills.
