**About the Role:**

This position is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of First Nations patients and their families.

The role will involve developing strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, organisations, and providers to ensure culturally safe interventions and procedures are performed in accordance with Indigenous best practice guidelines and policies.


**Key Responsibilities:**

  • To perform and support nurses to conduct culturally sensitive care in accordance with Indigenous best practice and organisational policies.
  • To assist with clinical interpretation for other team members.
  • To provide high-quality patient-focused care to First Nations patients and their carers as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • To develop strong internal networks and relationships to improve the delivery of care to First Nations Cancer patients.


**Requirements:**

  • Sound knowledge of and understanding of First Nations culture, society, and kinship networks.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing First Nations health services in mainstream health, primary care, or welfare sectors.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written health communication skills.
  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or willingness to attain relevant qualifications.
