Aboriginal Health and Engagement Program Overview

The Monash Health Aboriginal Health and Engagement program is a high-priority organisational initiative. We work in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to develop and implement strategies, programs, and initiatives aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of patients and employees, closing the gap on health inequity, and providing culturally safe environments and care.

We seek an individual with a strong commitment to supporting and advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and enhancing health outcomes for this priority population group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, programs, and initiatives that improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • To work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to identify and address health inequities.
  • To provide support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families, and promote culturally safe environments and care.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a related field (e.g., health sciences, social sciences).
  • Proven experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
