Job Title: Senior Lawyer

As a Senior Lawyer, you will play a key role in providing high-quality legal advice to the Executive Director and client's executives on a range of matters, including legislative reform, governance, and policy development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Representing the Executive Director and client in high-level discussions and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Undertaking technically complex or sensitive law interpretation work projects that have strategic and operational significance.
  • Identifying areas for legislative change and providing advice on legislative changes in close consultation with relevant policy areas.
  • Advising on the drafting and preparation of briefings, submissions, and other material for Ministers.
  • Shaping strategic thinking and harnessing information and opportunities for the broader benefit of Aboriginal Traditional Land Owners.
  • Administrative oversight: Preparing complex and routine legal advice on matters relating to client operations and objectives.
  • Coordinating client's responses to legislative reform proposals.
  • Reviewing and updating operational procedures based on Commonwealth legislation.
  • Managing and advising on land tenure transactions.
  • Managing client's compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and Privacy Act 1988.
  • Recording time spent on all areas of work undertaken.
