Metabolic Psychologist Role
Job DescriptionThe role of a Metabolic Psychologist involves working with patients who are undergoing bariatric surgery to support their decisions and provide individual or group interventions. The psychologist will work closely with other healthcare professionals, including dietitians and nutritionists, to deliver comprehensive care.
Key responsibilities include assessing patient readiness for bariatric surgery, conducting assessments, and developing treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each patient. Effective communication and collaboration with healthcare teams are essential in this role.
A Metabolic Psychologist is responsible for ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions about their health.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Tertiary qualification in Psychology approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
- Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Endorsement as a Health Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, or Clinical Neuropsychologist (where required)
