The role of a First Nations Clinician is crucial in providing culturally sensitive mental health support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
About the Role:As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering short-term counselling services that cater to the unique needs of First Nations clients. This involves offering guidance to organisations to improve workplace well-being and facilitating group sessions on mental health, cultural competency, and training packages.
The Day-to-Day:- Provide individualised counselling services to First Nations clients with a focus on their cultural and historical context.
- Collaborate with colleagues and access external supervision to ensure best practices are implemented.
- Develop and deliver training packages that address mental health, well-being, and cultural competency.
- Work closely with organisational stakeholders to design and implement workplace wellbeing initiatives.
- Manage client risk and clinical presentations effectively within a short-term counselling framework.
- Proven experience in providing mental health support to First Nations communities.
- Strong understanding of the cultural factors influencing mental health in First Nations communities.
- Qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work with professional registration.
- Minimum of three years of counselling experience with effective risk management skills.
