Aboriginal Mental Health and Wellbeing Specialist

This role is pivotal to the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.

As a specialist, you will provide culturally sensitive support through short-term counselling and work with organisations to improve workplace well-being.

The Key Responsibilities

  • Provide short-term counselling services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Offer guidance to organisations to enhance workplace mental health and wellbeing.
  • Facilitate group sessions and training on mental health, wellbeing, and cultural competency.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of educational training packages for clients.
  • Ensure culturally sensitive services are provided to both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people.

You will travel within the state and interstate as required for client and organisational needs.

About You:

  • Proven experience in providing mental health and wellbeing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
  • Strong understanding of the cultural, historical, familial, and societal factors influencing mental health in First Nations communities.
  • Qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work.
  • Professional registration with a relevant health professional body (AHPRA, AASW, ACA, PACFA).
  • Minimum of three years of counselling experience.
