About the Organisation

The Foundation is a private not-for-profit philanthropic organisation established to financially support the activities of a highly regarded youth mental health research and treatment Centre. The Centre is widely recognised for its variety of low-cost but highly effective mental health prevention and treatment programs targeting young Australians aged 5-25 years.

The Foundation has ambitious but realistic growth targets and a Board who is deeply committed to furthering the important work conducted by the Centre.

About the Role

This exciting new leadership position is tasked with growing and sustaining the Foundation's revenue. With a strong focus on high-net-worth individuals, the Head of Philanthropy and Development is responsible for exploring additional funding opportunities and raising the profile of the important work conducted by the Centre.

The Head of Philanthropy and Development will ensure an effective, sustainable and donor-centric approach to securing and facilitating transformational gifts, underpinned by the development and implementation of a strategic plan which also seeks to diversify philanthropic support.

About You

You are a highly experienced philanthropy and major gifts professional who is at ease building and maintaining relationships with high-net-worth individuals. Your depth of experience in relationship fundraising, pipeline development and strategy will equip you to drive the growth of the Foundation.

Your energetic and ambitious nature is balanced by your strong organisational skills to support full relationship management of committed and generous donors. You are highly motivated, a self-starter and driven to achieve excellent results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Board Chair and Centre Director to develop and implement a fit-for-purpose strategic plan for the Foundation
  • Maintain close relationships with existing donors
  • Conduct prospect research and appropriately steward and cultivate new donors
  • Identify, research and pursue new areas for funding opportunities across government and private sector, creating and maintaining high-level relationships with the potential to support the Foundation
  • Create and implement a high-end, bespoke donor acknowledgement and engagement strategy
  • Provide financial and pipeline development updates as needed, including realistic forecasting
  • Consistently meet and grow revenue targets
  • Amplify the strong reputation of the Centre and its work to raise awareness and recognition and forge new relationships

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in building a philanthropy program and securing revenue
