About the Role:

The University of New South Wales is seeking an experienced philanthropy professional to join our team as a Development Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in supporting the growth of our fundraising program and contributing to the success of our institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement strategies to achieve significant philanthropic revenue targets for the University.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 major gift prospects, nurturing long-term relationships with UNSW.
  • Prepare complex proposals, campaign materials, and stewardship information for major gift prospects and donors.
  • Develop philanthropic gift ideas and strategies with Development colleagues and academic leaders.
  • Engage with academic leaders to identify projects needing philanthropic support and strengthen relationships for UNSW.
  • Accurately enter donor and prospect data into databases to track engagement.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in development and donor relations, preferably in the university sector.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with high-net-worth individuals, successfully closing gifts of $100K and achieving high fundraising targets in a competitive environment.
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior staff, influential donors, and external organisations for successful fundraising outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability in building a highly targeted and robust pipeline of prospects through effective prospect research.
  • Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets, and estates.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing high-level, confidential materials.
