Position Overview: As a Senior Product Insights Analyst at Xero, your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional data analysis and insights that facilitate swift decision-making and contribute to the strategic design of our products. You will be adept at formulating the right questions, pinpointing essential data points, and utilizing analytical techniques to generate insights that narrate a clear and concise story, aiding internal stakeholders in addressing challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to product teams, assisting them in identifying crucial business inquiries and devising data-driven solutions.
  • Define challenges and outline solutions, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the business context and the overarching strategic goals of the product and organization.
  • Lead initiatives that span various portfolios, uncovering opportunities for strategic work that aligns with company objectives.
  • Collaborate proactively on cross-portfolio projects that advance business goals and influence the prioritization of strategic initiatives.
  • Comprehend the data flow from product to analysis, striving to make this data accessible and meaningful, while identifying methods to address any data gaps.
  • Provide leadership in developing metrics and data models, producing insights that enhance a portfolio's understanding of customers and products, thereby improving decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of analytical tools by creating processes that benefit other analysts in their work.
  • Utilize both specialized and general knowledge to extract insights from data, applying advanced statistical techniques as necessary.
  • Serve as an expert in advanced analytical methods, such as A/B testing best practices or regression toolkits, while mentoring fellow analysts in deriving insights from data.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in SQL with practical experience in R or Python.
  • Strong foundation in statistical principles, with a track record of applying statistical techniques to achieve business objectives (e.g., predictive analytics, A/B testing, clustering).
  • Ability to contribute to innovation and problem-solving independently.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for self-directed learning of new skills and technologies.
  • Passion for knowledge sharing, mentoring, and coaching analysts.
  • Experience in delivering analytics through visualizations and interactive dashboards.
  • Familiarity with contemporary business intelligence tools.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Firebase, BigQuery, or Mixpanel is advantageous.
