**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Perinatal Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist clinical care to women and infants with severe mental health challenges during the perinatal period.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist clinical care to women and infants up to 24 months with severe mental health challenges.
  • Lead assessment and management of complex perinatal cases, enhancing clinical processes and practices.
  • Engage in research to advance perinatal mental health and share findings through publications and presentations.
  • Design and deliver specialised education programs to build capacity across WSLHD services.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, shaping service models for comprehensive family support.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A postgraduate qualification in a clinical health field, such as social work or occupational therapy.
  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligibility to be a member of the AASW as a social worker.

Selection Criteria

  1. For CNC Role: Registered Nurse who has at least 5 years full-time post-registration experience, and approved post-registration nursing qualification (in relevant field) such as perinatal, child, youth and adult mental health.
  2. Demonstrated experience in working with parents and families with infants experiencing severe and complex psycho-social and psychiatric problems in the perinatal period with demonstrated knowledge of the impact of mental health problems and mental illness on parenting, parent–infant relationships, and infant development.
  3. Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and experience in clinical teaching.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of computerised information systems and proven ability to utilise research / quality improvement strategies to effect changes in clinical practice.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  6. CAPACITY TO ACT AS AN INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT WITH EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION, INTERPERSONAL AND NEGOTIATION SKILLS.
  7. Current driver's licence valid within Australia.
